How You Can Donate To Hurricane Irma Victims

There are a lot of people from the lake area that either visit Florida every year or have a second home there. Our community is anxious to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in any way that we can. Wicked Willie's Sports Grill is proud to be a drop-off location for Big Bags USA's "Donations For Florida Family & Friends" event.

Big Bags To Fill
Big Bags USA is a company that offers products meant to assist communities during the pre-flood time frame to minimize property damage. Their "big bags" which are normally used to take the place of sandbags are now doubling as collection containers across the lake area. The company, in conjunction with other lake area businesses, is asking local residents for donations to fill up a semi with the basic necessities that Florida residents are in need of after Hurricane Irma.

Donation bags are being set up outside many businesses, organizations, and churches in the community. Fuel and fruit cannot be accepted, but some non-perishable items that are being asked for include:

  • Packaged water and food
  • Diapers
  • Baby formula
  • Clothing
  • Pillows
  • Blankets
  • Towels
  • Pet food
  • Tents
  • Sleeping cots/ sleeping bags
  • Toiletries
  • Batteries
  • Flashlights

If you are interested in donating pallets of water, Culligan at Lake of the Ozarks is making it easy. Rather than you having go go out and purchase water, you can call 573-346-5221 to arrange for them to drop off a pallet of water to the Big Bags USA warehouse in Camdenton for you. Just make sure that they know you are calling for Florida Friends & Family.

You will find collection bags at the following participating locations:

  • Wicked Willie's Sports Grill
  • Big Bags USA Flood Barriers Warehouse
  • Emergency Management Agency of Camden County
  • Taterhoggz Swine & Spiritz
  • JJ Twig's Pizza
  • VFW Post 5923 - Camdenton

If you are interested in having a donation bag set up in front of your business, church, or organization, give Tom a call or text at 573-480-6699. The goal is to fill an entire semi. Once it's full, 100% of the donations made will be taken to a receiving station so that everything can be dispersed in Florida where it is most needed. Donations will be collected through the end of November, which is when the Atlantic hurricane season is usually over for the year.
