A 90s Grunge Party on Thanksgiving Eve + Drinks & Football on Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving is coming up soon and you're most likely planning on eating way too much turkey, watching lots of football, and settling in for a nap before going back for leftovers. (Sound about right?) What are you going to do the night before that? Well, Wicked Willie's Sports Grill in Osage Beach has an excellent idea of how you can chillax on Thanksgiving Eve - at our 90s Grunge Party!
Our 90s Grunge Party
On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, your favorite sports bar & grill at the Lake of the Ozarks is going "old school" with a night full of grungy goodness. Beginning at 9:00 pm, we're going to be playing music videos from the best bands of the grunge era.
Expect to be taken back to the days when your stereo was filled with the sounds of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Bush, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and a whole lot more. We'll also have some great drink and shot specials in store for you throughout the night, so come in thirsty!
What Exactly is Grunge?
Grunge is a genre of rock music that created its very own subculture. This music is sometimes referred to as the "Seattle sound" because that is where the early grunge movement got started during the mid-80s.
What began in the underground music scene gained popularity across the country by the 90s. The media was originally encouraged to describe the sound as "grunge" and this label described what became known as a hybrid of punk rock and heavy metal. The term itself is American slang for "someone or something that is repugnant" and also for "dirt." (Ya, right, grunge music is repugnant... NOT!)
Dress the Part
If the videos we're playing are going to make you feel like you're back in the early 90s, you might as well look the part too! Dig into the backs of your closets and find all of that flannel you simply couldn't bring yourself to throw out. (It's just so comfortable!)
The style has a very "everyday" look, nothing fancy. The type of clothing you'd throw on to hang out at the house and can easily be found on the second-hand racks at the local thrift store. For example, ripped jeans, flannel shirts, oversized sweaters, band t-shirts, Doc Martens, combat boots.. that type of stuff. (C'mon, you remember!)
Mark your calendar now to head on over to our Lake of the Ozarks bar & restaurant on Wednesday, November 27 for our 90s Grunge Party. Then, on Thanksgiving Day, be sure to come back between 3:00-11:00 pm for a few more drinks and a whole lot of football! The kitchen will be closed on Thursday but the bar will be open for business and all 31 TVs and 3 giant projection screens will be filled with football!
The Bills take on the Cowboys beginning at 3:30 pm followed by Saints vs. Falcons at 7:20 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Oh, and if you're trying to avoid those Black Friday crowds over the weekend, we'll be here open with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and all the games beginning at 11:00 am daily. Come and hide out with us at Wicked Willie's Sports Grill!
